Structural rehabilitation of oil pipelines, Oiltanking Amsterdam
Project: Structural rehabilitation of oil pipelines
Location: Amsterdam
Client: Oiltanking
Contract Duration: 8 days
Scope of Works:
• Structural rehabilitation of oil pipelines without any disruption of production.
Project Description:
The rehabilitated pipelines suffered from corrosion. Continued deterioration of the pipelines could lead to structural failure in the long run, with leakage as a result. This would have had a major impact on production capabilities and unpredictable collateral damages. All with very high cost involved.
The connected pipes were still in use as the steel surface of the tank and pipelines were thoroughly prepared to ensure proper bonding. Then the specially designed Tyfo® TC Epoxy was used as a primer on the steel substrate for bonding purposes to our Tyfo® Fibrwrap® System. This system consisted of three layers of glass fiber Tyfo® SEH-25A saturated with Tyfo® S Epoxy. Lastly a polyurethane coating was applied to the FRP surface to provide a durable resistance to all elements.
The whole project was completed in eight days.
