Project: Slab Strengthening of MRI area in Hospital “Hotel de France”, in Beirut

• covering of walls, floor and medical equipment, installation and removal of scaffolding, preparation of concrete surface (grinding, cleaning), in two days.

Project Description:
A slab of a room at the Hospital “Hotel de France” needed structural upgrade of at least 40%, due to the fact that heavy MRI machinery was scheduled to be placed on it.
Fibrwrap Construction Lebanon provided a design-build solution by using Tyfo® Fibrwrap® system of SCH-41 carbon fiber and S Epoxy at the bottom part of the slab in two layers, thus achieving additional flexural capacity of the large bi-directional slab.
Not only it was possible to provide the structural upgrade needed for the client but also the requirements of execution of the works to be carried out while the hospital was in full operation and also that the room underneath the slab was undisturbed (X-Ray area) were met with complete success.
The full scope of works, including covering of walls, floor and medical equipment, installation and removal of scaffolding, preparation of concrete surface (grinding, cleaning), was completed in two days.
